Sourdough Rye Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rye sourdough starter
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup molasses
- ¼ cup oil
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup flax seed meal
- 1 cup rye flour
- ½ cup whole wheat flour
- 1 ½ cups bread flour
- 1 tsp salt
Preparation:
- Combine and mix wet ingredients.
- Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl and then combine with wet ingredients.
- Work into a dough.
- Place dough in covered bowl and let rise until doubled.
- Knead for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with flour as necessary during kneading ….. if dough is sticky.
- Form into a loaf and place in 9 inch pan.
- Let rise until at least 1 inch above top of pan.
- Place in a preheated oven and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
- Remove from pan and place on rack to cool.
The entire rising process may take several hours, depending on ambient temperature and potency of the starter.
