Traveler's Delight

A very quick and simple "hamburger helper" type recipe that our immediate family has used for over fifty years. It is believed to have originated from members of our extended family who would prepare it when traveling or camping.

  • 1 lb ground meat
  • 2 cans Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable Soup

  • 1: Brown the ground meat in a skillet until thoroughly cooked (do not salt).
  • 2: Drain any grease that has cooked from the meat.
  • 3: Add the cans of soup and a little water if needed.
  • 4: Adjust the seasoning, adding salt and pepper to taste (the soup contains a good bit of salt, so taste before adding).
  • 5: Simmer a few minutes to heat the soup and meld the flavors.

Served over a slice of bread on a plate, this will take the kinks out of your belly and stick to your ribs.
Use as a base and add other ingredients to enhance the dish. Mom likes to add tomato sauce; brother Bruce dumps in a can of pork and beans. The possibilities are many.
